10 April – The Hours

During the Medieval period the contemplative, monastic life was organised around a timetable of daily prayers known as The Hours. The Canons at Mottisfont were not a closed order but led active lives in the community. It is likely that, whilst still observing the daily prayers, they would have arranged them to fit more conveniently around an active working day.
